Hello there, one afternoon after taking it to Walmart to get an oil change because, I save two cents on the dollar by not having to buy the oil to do it myself. Anyway after the kid was done with the oil change he came and told me he could not put the car in reverse so I figured it is the good old bushing inside the cabin again and thinking there goes another twenty five bucks. But it was not. Checked the u clip on the cable and it was fine but come to figure he broke the lever on top of the shifting tower that connects the shifting cables to the transmission. So I am looking for a new shifting tower to reconnect the shifting cables back on, my question is is my year interchangeable with the older models such as a 2002 standard sc2? When replacing it what should I be looking for when placing the shifting tower housing back down? Where can I get one beside the junkyard?
where can I get one part is really important cannot seem to find one any other place beside off of another Saturn. Please help.

In 2000 they change the shifter assembly so they will not work. What are you asking what are you looking for when putting the shifter down? There are just nuts holding it down and the two cables going to it. I once had a brand new Saturn that came from another dealer that had a shattered shifter tower. How the guy that dropped the car off from the dealer manage to do that is a mystery. As far as another different brand car having that same shifter that is not going to happen. As far as getting a new one that is going to be like trying to find a unicorn. They did not make a high percentage of the Saturn models with a stick compared to automatic transmission. Also, that part was never made aftermarket they stopped making that part many many years ago. So your only chance to find one would be eBay or a pick a part.

What I meant is when re installing the new shifter tower housing is there anything to look for such as the does the inside mechanism sits on a certain pattern? Also, does it come with a seal that the shifter tower sits on or, do you just add it facing the correct position and fasten the bolts? Thanks for replying.

If memory serves correct there is only three nuts holding it down and can only mount one direction. Also, there is clearly only one way it can go where the shifter knob itself is not backwards and the cables can go through the plastic guided hole.
