Hi, I may buy a 2001 town car L series that has been well maintained but has 224000 miles, what should I have checked first before I make the purchase, I do drive it now and it performs great but I am leary because of the mileage, also if the timing belts breaks will it ruin the engine or do I just replace it?
thanks

The biggest item that sticks out to me is the transmission. If it has been serviced often and the fluid is clean then it may have more miles to go with it.

If the frame is solid, then I would budget about $.30 per mile for maintenance and repairs. Repairs can be costly on lincolns.

This engine is run with a timing chain, not belt and would not do anything with unless there is a need.
Well maintained is good, but the price of the car should be reflected in regards to the miliage.
