the battery is fully charged, the alternators putting out 16 volts and when I take the positive cable off the battery the car stalls

Get the alternator load tested and go from there-16 volts its overcharging-put it up on a VAT 20/40 machine. Is this reading at idle speed-try 2K rpm and checking if its peaking up to 18 volts
