Battery or alternator

If my car dash lights go out and when I parked my car died, is that the battery or alternator?

It could be either or a bad connection from the battery. What I suggest is this. Recharge the battery and see if the vehicle will start and run then. If it does, take it to a nationally recognized parts store and have them load test the battery and check the alternator at the same time. That way you'll know which is creating the problem or if it is something different.
