Engine Performance problem
2000 Lexus RX 300 114000 miles

When my check engine light came on, I was told that one oxygen sensor was not working. I was told then that I should replace BOTH sensors since the 2nd would go soon after the first. Is absolutely necessary and what will happen is I don't do anything at all?
Thanks you so much for your time.

DO YOU REMEMBER WHAT CODES YOUR WERE GIVEN?
USUALLY THE SENSORS BEGIN TO FAIL AFTER 90K OR SO . IM NOT SAYING THE REST OF YOR SENSORS ARE BAD BUT USUALLY A/F SENSORS WICH ARE THE FIRST IN BANK ONE AND BANK TWO OF THE ENGINE USUALLY
FAIL CAUS E THE HEATER INSIDE THE SENSOR WEARS OUT IF ITS AN AIR-FUEL SENSOR HAVE BOTH CHANGED
IF ITS AN OXYGEN SENSOR HAVE THAT ONE REPLACED
THATS JUST GENERALIZING THE CIRCUMSTANCE
MORE DETAILS NEEDED TO TRY TO SEE WHAT YOU GOT
