Air Conditioning problem
1995 Lexus LS 400 V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

Is it possible to change the air compressor clutch assembly while the compressor is still on the car?I see that the serpentine belt would have to be removed. Is there a puller necessary and is there enough room? System was cooling great and then the clutch made a lot of noise and would not engage after that. There were no leaks. System seems still charged. Car has 104K miles. I think it is to early to have a compressor failure. Any recommendations on locating a comprehensive service manual? No Haynes please.I try to do all the work myself. I've worked all types of cars for45 years. First time my Lexus has had a serious problem. Thanks!

My software doesnt mention whether or not it needs to be removed to be serviced. They usually use a puller that threads into the center of the clutch assembly. So room isnt too much of an issue as long as there is clearence in front of it. The puller is usually about 4-5 inches long

I can give it a try. Looks like it may be tight for room. Thanks.
