Engine Performance problem
2004 Other Kia Models Engine Size unknown Two Wheel Drive Automatic 92000 miles

model: kia picanto (morning)

When Accelerating from a full stop, it revs up to a high RPM (with a high pitch sound) before suddenly accelerating with a knocking sound. Also, a slight knocking sound when accelerating from low speeds (e.G. Traffics, stop lights). This happened after replacing the throttle body, the mechanic said there were no error codes and said that it was just normal. So I took it to a different shop, have the transmission cleaned, tune-up, spark plug replacement and oil changed, but the problem still occurs. What could be the real cause and the solution to the problem? Thanks

Have the Base timing checked, it sounds a bit like the timing belt may have jumped a tooth or two. Has belt been replaced yet?

Thanks for the reply sir, I wanted the service crew to check/change the timing belt and the fuel filter but they hesitated and said it was already changed during my 60k km service. My mileage now is 92k km. I'm planning to bring it to another shop to have it all checked. I've spent a lot of money buying parts that they said needed to be changed to solve the problem like the throttle body and oil/ATF change twice and yet nothing has changed. I'm starting to feel ripped-off
