2006 Kia Optima Fuel Pump Removal

I am trying to replace the fuel pump. I have access to the top of the fuel tank and have removed the electrical connector and the two hoses, however I cannot figure how to remove the locking ring? It is completly smooth and only has eight holes around the top of the ring, can nayone help on this??

You'll need the spanner wrench, or a brass punch and hammer to tap it off without destroying it...

I was able to get the ring off, and I replaced the pump, but the car still will not start, any ideas?

What tests have you run? First thing is fuses and relays, under the hood and in the car, also retrieve any codes stored in the PCM. Then test for power at the connector to the pump.
