Well guys, I just took out an old busted ax-5 tranny from a 1993 jeep wrangler. I put in te exact same kind (ax-5) from ajeep that was a little younger. The tranny works fine except that when shifted into fifth it makes a high pitched whining noise. Any clue why?

I have seen this posted over and over. I have never actually worked on one with this exact problem. At road speed in fifth the only thing that could make a whine I believe would be the bearing in that cluster lfor the fifth gear. Also that would be the most worn gear bearing on vehicles with alot of road miles. Let me know how it comes out. Thanks curt
