My Jeep will start with normal pressing in clutch and turning the ignition, but you can change gears without pressing the clutch pedal and it will not move.

Hi there, is the transfer in neutral? Can you easily push the car with it in gear? With the engine running and in gear have some one watch the rear tail shaft is it turning?

Hi there, are you sure that the box is selecting gears? If so then I feel you have a failure in the transfer box, or a broken gear box out put shaft, I would start here.

Been watching for outcome of your mysterious problem, since it occurred.
Looked for answers myself, could get no responses. From no one.
Did you solve the mystery? Hope to solve mine too.

It looks like it may be the throw out bearing. I took out the slave and you can push the fork forward through the hole and it want come back without pulling yourself back. So it looks like the throw out is fried with the spring in the engaged position.

Hi there,

That is something that I have never seen in 37 years in the industry, if that is the case, a new clutch will be some what cheaper than a transfer re build, I would be expecting that some different feel in the clutch pressure would be evident, and some odd noises from the clutch would be expected, but you must expect the unexpected in this Job, let be know that you find when the box is removed, and a pic if you cam would be great, thanks for the feedback, it all help.
