Oops...forgot the make and engine size.

It is a Jeep Cherokee 4wd 4.0 liter 6 cyl 243 with 278,00 miles (before rebuild).

I was also curious about the timing mark on the harmonic balancer. I positioned it at 0 TDC before dropping in distributor. Is that correct? Chiltons manual said this was the way to remove/install distibutor. I know the timing is not adjustable, but I am not sure where to go next.

I just had my head and block rebuilt on my 1987 4.0 liter 6 cylinder. The block was bored out to 0.040 and I just finished installing the motor.
I went to start the motor and it does not run. It turns over fine, has good spark, plenty of fuel, but just will not stay running. I have been over the vacuum hoses, wiring, flushed the fuel rail, and checked the injectors......everything tested fine.

I guess I am kinda stuck on some type of timing problem? Or?

Please help. This was alot of work to just turn over to a shop for repair. Thanks.

Thanks for the reply.........

I finally figured out it was the distributor. I had dropped it in on the intake stroke rather than the exhaust stroke.
Runs great now.
