1999 Jeep Cherokee vehicle stalls

My 99 jeep cherokee laredo will start sputering and totally lose power you can push the gas and it dont go when you stop if you floor it a little it then gets its power and moves again pretty much it feels like your running out of gas but tonight my husband drove it and he said it totally died and had to sit a few minutes then restart it to get it to go again and after it loses power even with engine running you have to turn it off then back on again versres yesterday you just came to a stop gave it a little gas and off you went please what do you suggest before we put to much unecissary money into it please help

Wel first you will need to check and see if the is Catalytic Converter clogged this will cause this issue do to exesive back pressure also check the fuel pressure and I need to ask when was the last time a tune-up was done

I have no idea when the last tune up was we just got it 3 months ago
