1996 Jeep Cherokee Transmission- do I have to replace it?

1996 Jeep Cherokee Four Wheel Drive Automatic

I took my jeep to the mechanics to replace the radiator. When I got the car back I noticed that it would not go in reverse. The mechanics said that the transmission needed to be replaced. The car still drives fine, I just cant switch to reverse. Do I need to replace the whole thing or can I simply replace the reverse gear.

Hi there,

This will have to be investigated further, go get a test & report done by your local transmission specialist, I would no be thinking that the transmission will have to be replaced, nut until this has been diagnosed we will not know what the actual problem is,
