Dan:
A whining can be many things so I can't give you a definite answer. Is it shifting, slipping. Is the fluid burnt?

The noise may be coming from the converter. However, if the trans doesn't slip and it shifts properly, are you sure the engine isn't causing the 50MPH limit?

The exhaust sounds a little funny like a whistle or like a turbo would sound like because it gets to 50 fast but then cant get any faster the tranny shifts good I would say almost like its gonna hesitate without the jerking

I want you to check something. Everything you have described sounds like the catylatic converter is plugged. I will kill engine power. Check for back pressure from the exhaust. Listen for whisteling or ratteling from the converter area. Also, if you can, disconnect it to see if it runs any better.

I can't be sure, but now that you described the turbo like sound, that is what I'm thinking. I can't think of anything in the trans that would stop you at 50mph. Especially if it is shifting good, not slipping.

Let me know.

Is the converter new? There should be a good bit of back pressure.
