For a year it has been hesitating intermittently but the car wont pop a code. It has OBD1. The heat this summer has made the problem worse, the hesitation occurs at all speeds and even when the gas pedal isn't pressed. Two months ago it started stalling at traffic lights but cranks right back up without having to press gas pedal. I changed plugs, coils, several parts still under warranty can be swapped out. Fuel filter installed. Fuel treatment and fresh tank of gas. No improvement. Any help appreciated.

The most common cause of these is either a fuel pump issue or a vacuum leak. Normally a vacuum leak won't cause this issue in only hot conditions but it could make it worse. No matter what we need to check both just to be sure they are not an issue.

Here are guides that will help with doing both of these:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-use-an-engine-vacuum-gauge

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-fuel-system-pressure-and-regulator

Once we confirm that these are or are not then issue then we can move on but I suspect we will find something that will point us in a different direction.

Let me know if you have questions on this. Thanks

12/11/21 UPDATE 92 OLDSMOBILE CUTLASS SUPREME, Ignition sensor replaced, ignition control module replaced & all 3 coils replaced. All vacuum hoses checked, NO LEAKS! Radiator thermostat replaced, spark plugs and new spark plug wires. Ignition control module replaced at garage by swapping out mine with a lifetime warranty. $20 labor, again vacuum hoses tested for leaks, no leaks found! At this point it's running better than before because it's winter & cooler outside. It still does sometimes die & crank right back up while waiting in a fast food drive thru line. It cranks up easily in neutral & is stalling less often. But the last mechanic told me that I needed to replace the computer in it.

Even if I do replace the computer, I don't know if that is going to fix the problem!

The heater core was replaced last winter even though I didn't have any antifreeze in the floor, I was smelling antifreeze and had it replaced. The cruise control has never worked since I bought the car because it has a vacuum leak. I've never turned the cruise control on.
I had an A/C LEAK & when replacing the starter we took the A/C UNIT out. It made getting to the starter lying flat on your back easier with the A/C unit out of the way.
The car drives great some days without any hesitations at all & other days I just put it in N, Crank, put in D & Roll on.
I can still get up to 90 mph on interstate, God bless me, I haven't got a ticket yet! Great running engine 300 days a year. No codes by everyone who's checked it! The problem is that I still have an intermittent hesitation & it still stalls.
