How do I disable the SRS airbag system from deploying so I can change the instrument cluster bulbs that have burned out? I was told if you don't disable it the airbags can deploy. Please advise. Thanks, JJ. Vehicle listed above is an XLT with air.

Just so I understand you are looking to disable the SRS system so that you can change the bulbs and then you want it to be active again after you are completed?

If this is the case, then you simply unhooked the negative terminal of the battery and isolate it so that the vehicle does not have any power. If it makes you feel better then you can remove both terminals and secure them away from the battery posts.

With this unhooked the SRS will not deploy as there is no voltage for it to fire the bags.

Let me know if I am not understanding your questions and we can go from there. Thanks
