I did a transmission swap on my car from automatic to standard and now I am having problems with the key turning in the ignition at first it would not turn all the way off to release the key unless I disconnected the battery then I found a plug that was on the old automatic shifter and plugged it in which fixed the problem and the key came out, but now it wont turn in the ignition at all. What do you think?

The engine and transmission looms are different from memory and the ecu may not be comparable, have you looked into these as yet?

Sure it just not a failed barrel and key? Try wiggling the steering wheel as you turn the key just in case it is hanging up on the steering lock, my own car did this a while ago.
