Parking brake not working

I recently replaced my rear pads and rotors, as a result I ended up having to replace my parking brake shoes and hardware. I can no longer get my parking brake to engage. I have adjusted the star nut as well as the adjuster at the hand brake. While adjusting at the hand brake I noticed there is play in the cable running to the driver's side. Is there a way to adjust this cable or will it need to be replaced?

Hello,

It is possible that you could have missed a step and that's why it is not engaging.

Here is a helpful guide:

I have attached the parking brake adjustment as well as cable diagrams below. Take a look at it and see if you have missed any step.

Please let me know of any questions.
Thank you.
