My sonata runs extremely rich. Fuel odors are strong especially at a red light. When I changed the oil about 2 weeks ago there was a strong fuel odor in the oil. The oil was very thin as well. The oil had about 2500 miles on it according to the service shop sticker the previous owner had taken it to. I do have another problem as well. Windshield washer fluid doesnt work as well. I'm unable to locate which fuse under the dashboard it is due to the fuse cover missing. I did a google on this situation right after I purchased and another tech site told another 99 sonata owner that had that problem that it was a bad wire. I'm ok with general repairs but electrical system is not my specialty. Thanks!

Rich mixture

Possible causes include a bad O2 sensor, excessive fuel pressure (bad fuel pressure regulator or plugged return line), leaky fuel injectors, dirty air filter or restricted air inlet, or a defective coolant sensor that prevents the engine management system from going into closed loop mode.

Are there any true ways outside of a computer scan to detect a bad O2 sensor, fuel pressure regulator, coolant sensor, or to find out about leaky injectors. As for air inlet it seems ok, the filter is 500 miles old. I have yet to see an engine light. Thanks for your reply!

I'd bring it in if I could. I'm a single father of 3 young girls, 1 disabled. I'm on a very tight budget. I'll ask some more knowledgeable friends to look at it and maybe figure it out. Thanks for your assistance, I do appreciate it!
