While idling, the engine started smoking. The starter burned up. Not sure why, but a neighbor replaced the starter for me, then I tried to start the car. The car started, but the engine immediately reved up and I had to shut it off within seconds. Tried several times and same thing happened. What's wrong?

Sound like there's possibly a vacuum leak somewhere. It could have been knocked off while the starter was being replaced. If it revs up real high, it could be a very large vacuum leak, like the brake booster or something similar. Check ALL vacuum lines/hoses and make sure they're all connected. If you don't find the problem, repost and I'll try to walk you through finding the problem.
