Rear brake drum removal
Brakes problem
2003 Hyundai Elantra 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 63000 miles
I just purchased a manual and i am still unclear on how to back down the rear brake shoes in order to remove the drum. I am assuming that removal of the "big nut" is not necessary. The rubber plug in the backing plate seems to only reviel brake shoe condition. Thank you in advance for your help!

you should be able to hit the drum with a hammer in the center near the studs but be sure not to hit a stud and then the drum should pop off. just a good jolt and it frees it up
