I have a JGC Overland, it has dual climate zones. I'm always getting air blowing on defrost, it will switch to other vents but doesn't blow hard. I'm assuming that's because some of the air is still going to defrost. I hooked up my scanner and it gave me b11c5-11 for the code. Says mode door 2 (defrost) driver circuit shorted to ground. I don't know what part needs to be changed or where this is even located to check it. Is this different than the blend doors? I believe I have two of them, one on each side of the center area. Any help would be great!

Hi,

The code indicates a short to ground. So, it could be an internal failure in the actuator, the connector may have shorted, or we have a wiring issue.

Pic 1 below shows the approximate location of the actuator. The remaining pics are the removal and replacement of the component.

What I suggest is to access the actuator and inspect the wiring to it. Additionally, disconnect the electrical connector and make sure the pins are not damaged due to heat and shorting together.

If everything appears to be in good condition, replace the actuator. Chances are that is where the problem is coming from.

Let me know what you find or if you have questions.

Take care,

Joe

Hi Joe, thanks for the info! I'm going to look at it this week. I didn't see the replacement part # listed. Does it show up for you? I think it's 68224197AA, but I just want to make sure.

Hi,

The part number, for whatever reason, isn't provided for this vehicle. However, I did look up the number you provided, and it appears to be correct.

Let me know if you have questions.

Take care,

Joe
