2002 honda odyssey, 90,000 miles, engine: water cooled 4 stroke SOHC VTEC 6cylinder gasoline ingine.

was driving with AC on, stopped and put van in park, it immediately began revving and then idling normally, back and forth as though I was stepping on the gas for about 3 seconds and then off for 3 seconds. I put it back in drive and drove a few feet, put it back in park and it did the same thing. Then I drove about 1 minute and then put it in park a 3rd time and it idled like normal (no revving). I haven't started it since. What does that sound like? THANK YOU!

I would venture that the car will idle normal when there is no A/C on. Try that. You are having some sort of vacuum leak, at least I believe that to be true and at least as a starting point. Look at vacuum hoses on the vehicle and listen for any sound as from a leaking hose. With the A/C on the car needs to adjust the idle speed to compensate for the extra pull of the compressor. It is not getting a clear picture of what is needed for fuel air mixture to run and is overcompensating.
