My 96 odyssey will start in the morning than dies after running about 10 minutes. I then try to start it but it will not start, it turns over but will not start. After about 1 hour or so it will start again only to die in 5 to 10 minutes.I noticed some oil in the spark plug well so I replaced the valve cover gasket and plug sleeves. Still having same problems any help would be appreciated thank you.

Hi msteven,

There are a few possibilities that can cause the problem described.

1. Faulty PGM-FI main relay. Remove the relay and check if the circuit board has cracked joints. Resoldering would solve the problem.

2. Bad ignition switch. f the dashlighs do not show when the engine stalled, then the ignition switch is most likely faulty.

3. Failing ignition coil. A bad ignition coil would cause weak sparks and this would cause difficult or non starting depending on situation.

When engine could not start, you should check if there is no spark or fuel available.

The following link has some testing procedures that wuld be of assistance to understand what to do.
