In the mornings when my car engine is cold and I start it I wait awhile for it to warm up, buy as soon as I start driving there is a long drag before the gears changes. Its like something holding it back then it suddenly changes. But after it gets hot it smooth sailing.

Hi debo cr-v,

Symptoms described indicates the shift solenoids are not functioning correctly when the engine is cold. If you hacve any Check Engine light showing or the D4 blinking, get a scan done to retrieve the Code.

If not and the trans fluid has not been changed for the last 30k miles or more, it is time to get it done. This is no sure fix as it could be the shift solenoids failing but bad fluids would cause the symptoms described as well.
