I'm hearing a knocking sound mostly when I accelerate. I pulled all 4 injectors out. I noticed when I pulled the far left injector out and accelerated the knocking sound stopped.

How hard is it to replace a piston? What parts will I need and how expensive is it rough if I do it myself compared to if I take it to a mechanic? I’ve done simple oil changes and brakes but never something this in depth.

I appreciate any feed back. Thanks.

Hi there,

This is a huge job, its not just slipping in a new piston. I would get it diagnosed fully first, this knock could be a number of things, and you also must find the cause as well as if it is a oil pressure problem, your fix will start knocking straight away.

I do have a oil leak. Is it possible by replacing the gasket and spark plugs that the knock could go away?

HI there,

No that wont happen, and engine knock is a failed component or a chronic lack of pressure fed lubrication, this will have to be diagnosed correctly before any further action is taken, this is a task for a mechanic, as he can do a number of tests to prove where the problem is.
