I recently had two bent valves replaced and my head re-decked. I have a D16Y8 honda v-tec engine. All 16 seals were replaced when the head was torn apart. Once I put the head back on it instantly started making a knocking noise. This noise is quieter than the knock from the bent valves. I double checked the lash before starting it up. Everything was lubed before installation. What could the noise be from? It is a consistent noise whether the car is idling or revving up. Definitlely coming from inside the head, it sounds like the #2 piston valves.

Hi bchvojka,

If it is not from the valves, then you might have someting inside the cylinder causing the tapping noise. It could be carbon or anyhing that could have fallen inside while installing.

Remove the spark plugs and try using compressed air to clear out any debris. Keep the piston at top just below TDC.
