Transmission problem
1996 Honda Civic 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

My transmission feels like it is 'slipping' when starting from a stopped position. The car has 200,000 miles on it. The exhaust is also running real high oxygen levels preventing it from passing the smog test.
Is this normal for a car of this age and miles?
And it sounds like the repair may cost more than the worth of the car.
Whats your advice?

Hi S1MBRS,

High O2 level from exhaust is not mechanical fault of engine but rather emission control or ignition system. It might be the catalytic converter or others. Does the Check Engine Lamp shows while driving? What was the reason of smao failure? Readings?

As to the trans slipping, did youcheck the fluid level and what is its color?
