A friend replaced the engine of his 1999 civic after blowing his old engine. Instead of throwing away, I offered to buy it for a very small amount thinking I could get some undamaged and useful parts. I disassembled the engine and found the only obvious damage was the no.3 crankshaft bearing and the shaft. The rest looks ok except a little grinding of the valves and seats. Im not sure about the piston rings if its a good idea to use it on my car when its my time to make an overhaul.I was told the old engine was doing 125mph when it blew, so I guess compression was still good, I need some advice and info about the clearance of piston rings.. Tnx.
