I can get the car started by jump starting it but even after running for awhile it will not restart. The battery is less than 6 months old. Is it the starter?

Hi kcma610,

No, your problem should be the alternator or the charging system.

Test for voltage at the alternator mast and battery terminals respectively. Charging voltage should be 13.5 to 15.5 volts. If the voltage starts off fine and then drops, check if the crankshaft pulley dynamic balancer is bad resulting in slipping and abnormal noise when engine is running.
