Hi all,

My Corsa Utility Bakkie has an issue with the idle.
the van idles at 1,500 rpm up to 2,000 rpm.
I replaced the ICV with an aftermarket ICV from Goldwagon and reset the ECU by disconnecting the negative terminal.
The idle dropped and was fine for a few hours.
It then went back to 1,500 rpm and also has like a small jerk. Sometimes if switch off and start again its idle perfect and then back high. I do sometimes get a fuel smell from the front of the van.

Please assist guys as this is such pain to drive.

Hi and thanks for using 2CarPros.

First, this vehicle isn't offered in the US, so I don't have specific technical information on it. However, if you smell fuel, that is a concern. First, check to see if there are any leaks at the injectors, fuel rail, filter, fuel pressure regulator... A leak can cause idle issues because of a fluctuation in fuel pressure.

Next, if you can't find a leak, confirm that the fuel pressure is within the manufacturer's specs. Here is a link that shows in general how to check fuel pressure and regulator:

Also, check to see if there are any engine vacuum leaks. A vacuum leak can also cause an unsteady idle speed. Here is a link that shows how to check for one:

Let me know if any of this helps or if you have other questions.

Take care,
Joe
