The car started stalling out after driving for awhile, and getting good and warm, it will hesitate, and wont accept gas when pressing on the accelerator, jerking and stalling out. I had a diagnostic ran, P0171 came back. I changed a broken vacuum control solenoid, and a MAF sensor, no change, two independent mechanics say they cannot find anything else wrong. I cannot drive the car at all. Any ideas as to what else it could be? EGR? PCV? Head temperature sensor? Please help! Thanks!

Also found that there is a big crack in the air filter housing from when the car was wrecked before I got it, could that be an issue causing the P0171 code to keep popping up?

Yes that could cause the code also there could be still another vacuum leak as well. That is why I asked if there was ever a smoke test done on the vacuum system to find leaks?

Changed the fuel filter, and fuel pressure is fine, but after test driving it started acting up again and smelled like a hot iron, so we looked under the car and the catalytic converter was glowing red, so this leads me to believe that it's been the catalytic converter all along causing the problems, what do you think?

That won't set the code p0171 have a back pressure test done on the exhaust to see if the cat is clogged. Too much fuel getting into the exhaust can cause the car to glow red also.
