Any other position causes a whistle noise and no air coming into the cockpit.

Hi,

This vehicle isn't offered in the US, so I have no technical information. However, I will try to help.

First, air flow in a vehicle's HVAC system is controlled by what is called a mode door. Based on the position of the door determines where the air goes. Now, these doors can be actuated by either an electric actuator or one that functions off engine vacuum.

Since you a gre stuck with it only on the floor and you hear a whistling noise when you try to change it, either the door is stuck or there is an engine vacuum leak under the dash.

Does the whistle change when you change the fan speed?

If you look through this link, the first thing it discusses is the mode door. Take a look and let me know if I can help in any way. Also, the link is specific to a defroster issue but the same principals apply.

Let me know what you find or if you have other questions.

Take care,
Joe
