The short answer is, it can be a ground wire, but does it work fine as long as you are not driving?

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-wiring

When it shuts off, what do you have to do in order to get it running again?

This ground for the radio and cluster is the G202 which is on the right side upper left footwell.

That means driver side footwell but on the right side of it towards the top. I put a diagram of this below.

Basically, we need to monitor the voltage on the radio to make sure the power or ground is not dropping out. If not, then the radio is the issue.

Please run through this and let me know what questions you have.

Thanks

The car still runs when the dash and radio shuts, off but after the radio and dash go out and when you shut off the car it's completely out until you lift up the wire to the battery.

Okay. That is good info. However, can you get a couple more pictures of these wires and how they connect to the battery?

They do not look like factory wiring so is there anything added to this vehicle? Is it the stock radio?

Lastly when you say you lift the wire to the battery, do you mean remove it from the battery and reconnect it or just move it around and the radio comes but leave it connected to the battery?

Yes, it's a factory radio. Here are some more pics. The wire in the pic if I lift up the car lights come back on, and the car starts.

Okay. That wire is a major issue, and we need to replace it.

I suspected that is what you meant, and it is actually a safety issue. The reason it works when you pick up on it is because it is stripped and looks like it is even burned. The fact that it has tape all around it shows that it has been an issue for a while, and someone didn't repair it properly.

I would disconnect the positive and negative battery cable and then unwrap that tape to see what it looks like.

You can get some more pictures of that if you want to run it by me, but we most likely need to replace this entire cable at this point.

I am attaching the process below for the cable replacement.

Please let me know what it looks like under that tape, but we should do this first and I bet it resolves all the issues.
