1996 GMC Jimmy How to change the Fuel Filter

1996 GMC Jimmy 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic 200g miles

My Jimmy has been sitting since I started driving my other car. About 6 months later after starting it on a regular basis it won't start. I can put fuel in the carb and it starts then dies. I suspect the fuel pump. What do you think and how should I go about fixing it. Could it just be a plugged fuel filter? I have no mechanics experience.

Need to inspect fuel pressure at the rail with gauge first. If pressure is restricted then replace filter. If pressure is not present at all inspect fuel pump to ensure it is getting power. If it is getting power, suspect faulty fuel pump.
