Hi my partner's vehicle is sticking in drive/neutral. It only goes into reverse when she releases the foot brake.
I have read about sticking in park but it is not doing that.
I can hear the solenoid click when in park, but not in drive.
Could the solenoid be sticking? Or could this be the weak plastic release lever failing? (Even though it is not getting stuck in park?)
Thanks Paul.

Paul, the park release, as you mentioned, doesn't sound like the problem. The release lever wouldn't only prove problematic in drive and neutral. I recommend checking the linkage from the shifter to the transmission for damage, bent connectors. I feel that is where the problem is. Also, make sure none of the plastic grommets are missing.
