I put the car in the garage so I am trying to change the alternator and now the car will not start. It's getting gas up to the fuel rail, but if you put gas into the throttle body it'll start. What can I do?

Hello my name is Dave.

First thing to check is if you are getting power/signal to your fuel injectors. Here is a link to our tutorial on testing fuel injectors:

Another thing we need to be sure of is that you have enough fuel pressure, even if you have fuel up to the fuel rail if you don't have enough pressure it's not going to start. I am also including a link to our tutorial on testing your fuel pump since it covers testing the pressure and also the regulator, a common cause of low pressure even with a good pump. Here is that link:

If you could follow these steps and let us know the results we will be glad to assist you on completing the required repairs. Please keep us up to date on your progress and thank you for using 2CarPros!
