I own a 1996 Ford Windstar minivan. I recently replaced the thermostat myself which was a much bigger ordeal than I expected. When I finished I noticed 2 things, first the car runs great and does not overheat, and second, th accelerator cable seems to be disconnected from the pedal. Am I able to fix this myself? Its a 3.8 litre v6 with 123,000 miles on it. I have never had a problem with it and would be upset if this were to kill it.

Thanks,

Thanks for the input, but thats not it. The 2 cables are connected to the engine correctly. The gas pedal is flat on the floorboard and somehow not connected to the cables.

Thanks for your help,

OK, the cable is attached to the pedal. I followed it to the firewall and gave it a couple of tugs and it didn't move. I also gave it a pull from the throttle assembly, it springs back with no problem, and the pedal is still on the floorboard.

I am so confused.

I found the problem...

When I reassembled the throttle assembly and attached it to the carb I didn't loop the cable back ove the assembly like I'm supposed to... THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP AND IDEAS!! I will send you a ton of dough for your input, I wouldn't have even known where to look if it hadn't been for your great advice!
