You are talking about where the key goes in right? It is very easy if you have the old key.

Disconnect your battery, put your key into the ignition, turn to acc (1 turn), then push a very small screw driver into the hole directly under the ignition. This might take you a little while to get it lined up correctly, but there is a little pin that pushes in. You can actually lay on the floor mat with a flash light and see it if you have trouble.

Once you push the pin in, just pull the ignition outwards, don't turn - just pull straight out.

A new ignition switch is around $15 at your local auto parts store, and takes just a second to slide into position.

Just FYI, my 1995 thunderbird had a dealer or factory installed anti-theft device. It was a 1/2 thick aluminum plate all the way around the ignition switch. I had to finally drill four rivets to take my ignition out. This was the only one I have ever seen like this, but just letting you know in case you have a special one too.
