I am working on a 1993 tempo. Customer tried to replace starter relay and got the wires mixed up. I rewired the relay and now when u start the car it runs and so does the starter the only way to disengage the starter is by pulling either the starter or alternator wire off of the relay. Checked the ignition relay and starter all test fine. Could the problem be in the voltage regulator or the alternator itself. Also on the power side of the relay there are just two wires the main from the battery and the main into the vehicle everything esle goes on the isolated side. Right?

Welcome to the forum, coil side of relay gets voltage from the ignition switch, only with key in crank position. Once the vehicle starts and the key is released, it springs back to run position, no voltage to coil side of relay. No voltage on coil side, relay will not energize. Red/ lt blue wire.

If I recall, all the small wires go on 1 side along with main battery+ cable. Closest to windshield as I remember. Will check and edit later if necessary.
