Taurus steering?

How do I tell if my 93 taurus GL have the vaps system, variable assist power steering???Can I fix it ?thanks for the reply

The answer is no but go to google and type in Ford variable assist power steering. there are many good articles

If the vaps fails, your steering will become very light, no road feel thru the wheel, in fact at highway speeds, you'll be on your toes to keep it from twitching around, Look at your steering rack, there will be an actuator assembly with an electrical connector and a pressure switch,, also under the dash to the right of the steering column will be the vap module,, the system will have to be diagnosed by someone familiar with this system.. it's a good idea, but failures are common..
