I have a 1998 Ford Taurus with 135,000 miles. It has been a good vehicle, but I have run into a problem I can't solve and neither can my mechanic. When I turn my heater on (set to high temp) I get a short blast of warm air and then it gradually cools off (cabin or outside air temp). I just had my termostat changed (thinking that might be the problem), and the cooling system flushed and refilled with anti-freeze (50/50 mix). The mechanic also checked the operation of the air diverting door under the dash. Everything seems to be working as it should, but I still have the problem. HELP before I freeze to death.

Thanks,

Either the thermostat needs to be replacded (i dought it) or the heater core is paricalli blocked and needs to be replaced and that would be my bet.
