Brakes problem
1994 Ford Ranger 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic

What is the trick to readjust the parking brake actuator? After installing new rear brake shoes, new rear emergency brake cables and new rear brake drums the cable from the parking brake actuator is approximately 1" short. There is no adjustment on the cables or its attaching hardware. I am told the only adjustment to the parking brake system on this truck is in the parking brake actuator. The replacement parts dimensions matched the old parts that were removed. The methods for releasing the cable from the actuator that I found on line and in manuals has not worked. Solution?

This model year does not have an adjustable equalizer. This model year also does not incorporate the adjustable pedal assembly where you place a 5/32 drill bit into the hole to release tension. Still searching for a solution.

That is the proper adjustment procedure for the 1994 Rangers.

Has the vehicle been serviced for the parking brake recall issue already? Recall ID# 49968
