Drive Train Axles Bearings problem
1999 Other Ford Models 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual

the vehicle is a uk ford fiesta with an Endura DE 1.8 diesel engine unit.
i replaced the front lower suspension arm [ 'wishbone' ] on each side. In doing so I moved the freed hub assembly quite alot and although when I 'turned the wheel hub' on each side the wheel hub on the other side turned too i've now engaged 4th gear to adjust the camshaft for valve clearance adjustment but turning the wheel hub doesn't rotate the camshaft.
In the section of the workshop manual that deals with renewing driveshaft gaiters there is an advisory to not pull the driveshafts 'out' too far from the inner cv joint. What would be the consquence of that and can it be that's what i've done?

I'm not real clear on your problem. If you pulled the axles out of the inner joint you will notice the boot is terribly mishaped! There is a tripod joint with a spring behind it inside the boot, at worst, get a new boot and place the spring and tripod back into the joint, reclamp the boot. You don't turn the engine at the hub unless your name is Hercules! Use a wrench on the crank.
