I have a 94 Mustang GT with 143000 miles. Runs like a top. When you accerlate and at an idle I hear a humming or whine coming from the rear end. It doesnt sound mechnical, like gears griding. It sounds more electrical, like an electric motor is running. What could that be?

Thanks

The fuel pump is located inside the gas tank. Sounds like you may have a plugged fuel filter making the pump louder than normal because it has to work harder
