Engine Performance problem
1995 Ford Mustang 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 150k miles

95 mustang performance problem

It started out that when it got to 20 or 30 it would sputter and backfire lightly and drop back down to 10 miles per hour

Now it will only run like 10 miles perhour

Took it to Advance Auto and they checked the codes it said

Bank 1 and 2 Too lean they told me TPS and mass air flow

Took it across the street they checked it same Bank 2 too lean said it was the EGR valve

Took it to a mecanic he put a gauge on the fuel pressure valve it only had 30 lbs at idle and 18 when you reved it up

All these parts are exspensive Is it possible that all of them are bad at once

Where should I stat what do you recommend

Pressure should stay at 35-40 look for fuel pressure regulator on fuel rail. Like a silver can with a vacuum line attached. Remove line pressure should go up.

Well guy I know with the gauge has already closed shop so gauge was a no go.

However even with the vaccum line off it still did not improve perfomace was it will not get above 15 on or off If you lightly press the gas it might get up to 20 but if you give it any pedal it will die out it never shut completly off just has no power at all

Still searching thru forums the more I search the less I get any closer to the problem because I keep getting more and more things that can be wrong.

Could timing be a issue

I think I may be hopless in getting this fixed for less than what the car is worth

Parets are starting to total up to 500 bucks and I still don't have a clue whats wrong

If I put it in the shop they gonna charge me a arm and leg and do the same thing just change out parts till they get it right

OK you are lean bank 1 and 2 so have you cleaned the mass air flow meter? If not get a can of mass air flow cleaner not carb cleaner it is to harsh just mass air flow cleaner. Now you will need to remove the mass air meter. You do this by pulling the air filter and then removing the part with the plug in on it and then clean it with the mass air flow cleaner. Put it back together and let me know how it goes. I have a 98 Mustang and had a lean code did this and fixed it. If any dirt or oil (from over oiling a K&N type filter) will make it give faulse readings. So do this and let me know how it goes. I would also like to know if there are any performance mods. Get back to me and we will go from there.
