1973 Ford Mustang ignition

I put the keys in the ignition and the ignition is very hard to turn and the engine does not turnover. Any ideas?

you can take a screwdriver or a starter button and go from the little pole to the battery pole on the relay and jump it. If the car turns over then you either have a problem with the ignition switch or the nuetral safety switch. you could also try jiggling the car in park and see if it will start that way. I t may just be an adjustment. If the key won't turn to start you'll have to chec the ignition switch which is at thebottome of the steering column, not where the key goes....
