I have a 351W from a 1969

Tuff Stuff Performance alternator 100Amp 1 wire PN 7068RD

Accel 71204E breakerless distributor

Matching Accel 140008 ignition coil (also was running 8145C from Accel

Trouble is I have started burning out the electronic modules (Accel 35366)

Symtoms

The module burned out - but first the car would just quit then you could restart it turning the ignition off and then starting.

After replacing the module I noticed the Coil was getting very hot (8145c) and thought it was bad and replaced it with the 140008.

Now the tach is giving me wacky readings at idle up to about 2500 rpm, and the module is getting burning hot

I am afraid I am going to burn another module, but am not sure how hot they actually run or if the tach issue is a sign of some other problem.

I am thinking regulator in my 1 wire alternator... but the Volts gauge seems to show alls well with the voltage at around 14 with no load.

I did notice a slight dip in voltage over the last couple of weks down to 10 for the first few minutes after engine start.

It is my daily driver and needs to get running fast - any help would be appreciated

Thank You

Lee

other than module going bad i'd really check to make sure all your grounds have good connection, including a ground to the module. Make sure the battery cable is grounded well too. I'm talking engine to body ground, battery to body, and module to ground.....
