What would make oil pump bind or the distributor staft oil pump is brand new my budy says its the high volume oil pump to much for the gears

yup, the pump is likely cause. you aint the first to have this problem. you can try a hardened pin or go to a slightly larger chevy pin but the easiest solution is to go back to regular volume pump. weight of oil and temp of oil also contribute to the load shearing force.
