1973 Ford LTD Question about a rod

1973 Ford LTD V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic

I pulled the rods in my truck and noticed that one of them is a copperish color at one end and black at the other. I have attempted to clean it off, but it doesnt work. I was wondering if you could tell me what caused this and how to fix it.

Hi there,

I would really like to see a pic if you can, but from what you describe it sound like an overheating problem, with the black being the hottest, whey is the engine pulled down?
